Thomas Bloodworth -1700s, NC and Georgia

When I found that the DAR no longer accepts Thomas Bloodworth, NC, New hanover County due to problem with dates I started researching this summer. Travis Bloodworth published book but made error related to Thomas, reputedly born 1755. He was wrong about father having 2 wives. I teased out some information and i suspect that Bloodworth family stories merged the story of Thomas Bloodworth, Revolutionary soldier/officer with that of Thomas Bloodworth, b.1773 and died 1836. Unfortunately most of research I find through CLDS's Family Search, Allen histories et al repeat this error. Is anyone else working on this? If so, I would love to hear from you. I am using primary sources at NY Public Library as well as public archives plus family history handed down to me by my grandmother, Harriett Bloodworth Jackson, daughter of OHB Bloodworth.
