Hi Deborah,
The answer to your question regarding Maria is that her surname was Lee. Her mother was Sarah Smith, and I believe her father was James Lee, but some people believe it was a George Lee. I have a copy of her death certicate, and it says her father was William Lee.

Sarah Smith and her children William & Maria were cared for by a William Pantony on Norfolk Island. After Sarah's death in 1804 Maria returned to the mainland in the care of Rev. Henry Fulton in NSW, and she was placed in the care of a surgeon named Mountgarret.

Maria lived to the age of 98 years and 9 months; she died at her grandson Charles Younger's residence. She was buried in St. Thomas Cemetery, West Street, North Sydney, and the headstone may still be seen there. The headstone of James Bloodworth is in the cemetery of St. Stephen's Newtown.

Regards Robyn.
