Hi Jennifer,

I am not a descendant of Joseph Bloodworth, but in researching the origins of my Timothy Bloodworth, Sr., of VA and NC, I have taken notes on all Bloodworths, hoping to make some connection, or if not, to eliminate.

For Joseph, I have notes from "Records of Augusta Co., VA 1745-1800, Vol. 1" by Chalkley:

April 1797: Allison vs. Kennedy--special verdict. Mentions patent to William Russell in year 1740. William Russell owned land in Beverly Manor prior to 1740. In 1742, 27th May, William conveyed his lands to Joseph Bloodworth, Joseph's will dated 3d Oct 1743, wife Mary Bloodworth, devise to Mary Margaret Kennerley, wife of Thomas Kennerly. After Joseph's death, widow Mary married Michael Lawler. Thomas and Mary Margaret sold land to James Kennerly, but died before making deed and Thomas eldest son and heir; John Kennerly and Mary, his wife conveyed the land to James. James Kennerly died Jun 1797. Survey was made for Russell, 1739.

22 Nov 1775: John Kennerly and Mary of Craven Co. Camden Dist. SC to James Kennerly. Patented to Wm. Russell 1 Dec 1740. Patented to Joseph Bloodworth, 1 Aug 1745; Teste: John Strother, William Kennerly, Joseph Strother. Certificate that the other witnesses that Joseph Strother, the other witness who came with them from SC to prove this deed, died since his arrival. Privy examination of Mary as to above certified by Robert Goodwin, David Hopkins and Richard Brown.

Jun 1747
Michael Lawler vs. James Armstrong and Thomas Letch. Michael and Mary, his wife, lately called Mary Bloodworth. Debt on bond dated 22 Mar 1743 to Mary while she was sole and unmarried. Writ issued 1746, 26 Nov. Receipt sitned by Mary Bloodworth 29 Jul 1744. Receipt signed by Michael Lawler 23 May 1745.

11 Aug 1749. Michael Lawler and Mary his wife Thomas of St. Mark's Parrish, Culpeper Co. to Thomas Kennerly, Joseph Bloodworth, Mary Bloodworth, Mary Margaret Kennerley, Wm. Russell. Devised to his wife Mary after her death to Mary Margaret Kennerly, wife of Thomas. Mary Bloodworth, widow has married Michael. 100 acres purchased by Joseph from Russell 27 May 1742 300 acres patented to Joseph 1 Aug 1745. Teste: John Roberts, Jr. William Duncan, Archibald, William and Susanna Woods, James Kennerley.
