Helen: Capt. Francis Jansen Bloodgood nee Frans Janse Bloetgoet has a family history in the Newberry Library, Chicago titled, "Ancestors and Descendants of Captain Frans Janse Bloetgoet.", Vol. 1, revised by George M. Bloodgood, 1980. Other sources: "History of Ancient Families of New Amsterdam and New York", by Edwin R. Purple, 1881, pg. 10 and "Revised History of Harlem" by James Riker, 1904, pg. 698.
Capt. Bloetgoet married Elizabeth Jans on 5 Mar 1692. He was wounded in an Indian skirmish and died from his wounds on 29 Nov 1670 at age 41. They lived in Flushing, Long Island. They were my 7th great grandparents.
Their daughter Neeltje married Samuel Waldron, youngest son of Resolved Waldron.
(Note Waldron chapter in "History of Harlem."
Capt. Bloetgoet was chief officer of the Dutch militia in Flushing, Hempstead, Jamaica, Newtown and Oyster Bay. He was a ship's captain, not a military captain.
