I am trying to find out anything that I can about my Bloodgood ancestors on my mother's side. Her maiden name was Buckmaster, but her paternal grandmother, Lucy, was originally a Bloodgood. Lucy's father was named Joseph. His wife was named Mary Moore. Supposedly they came to my hometown of Swansboro,NC from Shackleford Banks. I don't know if they ended up on the Banks as the result of a shipwreck or if they came there as a result of the whaling/shipping industry. We had always heard rumors that some of them had been pirates, but have nothing to sustantiate that. Please reply if you have any knowledge on these matters. thank you!
