I have a few comments and more questions about the early Bloods of MA. First, I see the marriage document gives James Blood's occupation as "cordwayner". I looked this up and found the following definitions for cordwayner: "cobbler", "shoemaker", and "leather worker". The data from Story of the Blood's (page 143) indicates that James Blood Sr. was born "abt 1605 or 1606" and that Ellen Harrison was born "abt 1601". I show Ellen was born 05 JAN 1600 at Kirby, Cheshire, England. This would make her 30 years old when she married, thus the "spinster" label in the marriage record. I do not know at what age a woman would be considered a spinster. With this data, it seems that Ellen was about 5 years older than James which I think is a little odd, but possible. The next question I have is this. If James and Ellen were not married until 1630/31, who were the parents of the following men who also came to MA? Richard Blood, born 1617 Ruddington England. John Blood, born abt 1620 Ruddington England. Robert Blood, born 1626 Ruddington England. Were these brothers in the same family? David F.
