I, too, am certain that Sabatini's Captain
Peter Blood was a fictional character but a
very interesting character as a namesake.
I thought Peter Blood was "very loosely"
based on the Capt Morgan- he was governor of
Jamaica.
I had heard back in the late 80s that there
were plans to remake "Captain Blood" .. the
Geena Davis pirate movie probably doomed
plans on all pirate movies in pre-production.
(I am SO GLAD the Wayne Newton version was
never made! --shivers!-)
Still would have loved to seen a new one-- or
a theatre reissue of Flynn's Captain Blood!.
My pick for a present day production of
"Captain Blood" Ralph Fiennes! I also
would pick him to be in any new Flynn
biography.
