Why would anyone name their kid Asa? This has been a nightmare for me as I have spent in excess of twenty years trying to find my Asa.........There are more Asa's than I care to list and have decided in order to find my Asa that I have to determine who the other Asa's are. My Asa is said to have been born in Vermont about 1790 and removed to New York then into Pennsylvania. The U.S. Census does not list any Asa Blood's prior to 1820 for the state of New York. In 1820 there were three from New York, one in Montgomery Co. and two in Steuben Co. In 1830 there were four Asa's listed in New York, two from Steuben Co., one from Livingston Co. and one from Montgomery Co. In the 1840 Census for New York there was a Asa living in Steuben and one in Cortland Co. My Asa was in Pennsylvania by 1850 and died there before the 1850 census was taken (February). There were two Asa's listed in the 1850 New York Census, one in Chautauqua Co. (family doesn't match but might be related). and one in Oneida Co. I have ruled them out. So where is my Asa??????? If anyone has information about the Asa in Cortland Co., New York in 1840 or the Asa listed in Livingston Co. New York in 1830 or the Asa listed in Montgomery Co., New York in 1830, I would really enjoy hearing from you! I am ruling out the Capt. Asa Blood family from Steuben Co., New York as that family may have been related but doesn't match up with the information that I have. Comments, suggestions and answers welcome.......
