One of our BLOOD members, who has a tree showing a direct descent from James and Ellen Blood of Groton, is NOT in fact a direct descendant. His DNA test did not match Garry Blood. We know Garry is a descendant because he matches other Bloods whose families stayed in England. There are several reasons why this might happen - error in tree; in fact descended from someone who changed their name to Blood - adoption, possibly following remarriage - "extramarital event" It seems likely therefore that a considerable number of you are NOT descended from James and Ellen. There is only one way to find out - you have to take a test. Only male Bloods can take the test. It is quick and easy. Ladies - if you want to know about your families and whether you are really descended from the English Bloods, buy a kit, take it to a family reunion and get your relative to do it on the spot. This is not ideal but works 90% of the time. You can get a discounted kit at http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Blood Get at least a 25 marker test and preferably a 37. Or you can use one of the other providers and check out the results with us. Im happy to answer any questions Notify Administrator about this message?
