Garry,
I have only hired a genealogist a couple of times and never in England. In both cases, I shared the cost with fellow genealogists researching the same family. I would be willing to share costs and I hope others will do the same. I cannot give you very many pointers. Reqest copies of all documents found ahead of time. Be VERY specifc about what you want to obtain. Ask for reports often to keep the person on track. Talk to Gene and Michael for pointers. The relationship between the early BLOODs in America needs to be un-muddled and I think everyone wants to know exactly how Colonel Thomas of jewels-fame ties in.
