I don't think there is any evidence at this stage to determine the exact relationship between Colonel Thomas Blood and the early Mass. immigrants, except to say they were probably cousins.
Thomas Blood descended from Bloods living around Duffield in Derbyshire England, whereas James Blood was a cordwainer (shoemaker) from Nottingham before emigrating to Mass. The two places are about 12 miles apart and the families are no doubt related.
