Midge, Vicky, and others trying to research this line -- I believe that I have a sound theory on how Dewitt fits to Daniel and who Daniel's family might have been.My Blodgetts were in the same places, and I believe they are tied together.
Daniel Blodgett was of the right age to be a son of Jacob Blodgett of Onondaga and Erie Counties in New York.In the 1860 census, he and his wife Olive had a son Heman who was with Squire Blodgett -- one of Jacob's sons and my ancestor -- in the 1870 census in Illinois.
Four of Jacob's sons -- Squire, Darwin, Russell, and James -- all went to LeRoy Township in Boone County Illinois in the 1840's and appear there in the 1850 census. That is where DeWitt appeared in the same census.
In any event, I have tried to e-mail all of you who posted to this message, and the e-mails bounce back. Please contact me at [email protected].
