Possible Surname for Thomas' Susan?
Susan Anderson 9/28/00
Hi,
I have learned a little more since posting last week, and decided to share what I've learned...
There is a mention of a Susanna Blodget/Sergan in the AGBI (American Genealogical-Biographical Index), as found at ancestry.com.This is what I found there:
Blodget, SusannaSurname: Sergan.Born: 161?, Birthplace:Eng, Mass.Reference:Gen. Column of "The Boston Transcript", 1906-1941.(The greatest source of material for gen. data for the N. E. area and for the period 1600-1800."..."6 March 1916, 5333.")
I have found that the Boston Transcript is on microfilm, and is part of the collection at the Library of Congress, and can? be loaned out on interlibrary Loan?.
Have also learned that the Boston Transcript is also part of the collection housed at the Godfrey Memorial Library in CT.So, I will be writing to them and trying to get a copy of the part of the March 6, 1916 issue that mentions Susanna Sergan. It will be interesting, for me at least, to see who submitted this surname for Susan in 1916, and if they included any sources for the Sergan surname.I will let you know what I find out...
The source for the Sergan surname at familysearch.org (the LDS site), is "Patron submitted forms - 1969-1991."
Until next time,
Susan
