Solomon Blodgett/10 Generations
While reviewing my copy of Ten Generations of Blodgetts in America, I noted that my fourth great grandfather, Solomon Blodgett, had a listing that said Solomon's "grandson also writes of his grandsire's account of his adventures in company wtih his brother Ludim when, after the (Revolutionary) War, they were seeking an advantageous place to settle in Western New York, when the woods were alive with wolves and Indians."
Solomon eventually settled in Ontario County, N.Y., and all my ancestors thereafter lived in the area until my father moved our family to Arizona in 1970.
Solomon had 12 children by three wives and I'm sure many grandchildren. But somewhere along the line Edwin Blodgett or his editing daughters, Edith and Evelyn, picked up on this tale. I'm looking to see if anyone has seen or knows about these accounts of his move to Western New York. Solomon is perhaps my most interesting direct ancestor, short of Thomas the immigrant.
Thanks for any help.
Tom Blodgett
