Just here attached 'in Texto' the official statement in plain original authentical genuine french the comments of the official alsatian genealogical society.
BLOCH
Nom juif d'origine germanique; le mot Waloch désignait les gens d'Europe orientale, ce qui a donné Bloch.

With my superior cambridge something a bit similar to english translated:

jewish name german origin; the word Waloch specified people from Eastern Europe, yielding later on Bloch.
