I believe I have some information for you that will help you go back another generation. The following information is taken from some books available at Lehigh County Historical Society.
"Die Aufschlusselung des Evangelish- Lutherischen Kirchenbuches von Hirschland 1698-1798/9"
(Church and Legal Records of Hirschland, Alsace, France
compiled by Dr. Gerhard Hein 1981)

Bloch, George mar. Ann Elizabeth Gelbach 17 Nov. 1744
Ch. Maria b. 23 oct. 1745
Johann Adam b. 21 Jan 1748
Maria Magdalena b. 30 Aug. 1750

George was also the godfather to a child baptised in 1770
Johann Adam was godfather to a child in 1774 in Hirschland

If you would like copies of these pages I could either scan and e-mail them or just sent them through the u.s. mail.

I have about five pages photocopied from this source with several other Blochs listed.

Now, about Adam's children. You said that Sabine was married to Wilhelm Shaffer. According to my notes, there was a Salome Bloch married to Wilhelm Shaffer. Do you evidence to support that this is the same woman?

I would also like to have the names of Wilhelm and Sabine's children for my files.

Anna Elizabeth was married to Johanes Rohrbach. This agrees with my notes from the Rohrbach family genealogy book, but I also have a marriage record for Johan Henry Rohrbach and Catharina Bloch on 13 Sept. 1796. Is this the same couple or a different one?

Also, you may already have this but there are several Blochs on the passenger list of the Patience, which arrived in 1751.Among them are George Bloch and His wife Anna Elisabetha (Gelbach) from Butten, Alsace-Lorraine. There is no mention of children with them. There is also a Michael Bloch and a Johannes Bloch with wife Maria
Magdalena (Villerd). There are children listed with Johannes and Maria: Georgius, Anna Margaretha, Johann Michael, Johann Friedrich, and Abraham.
There are also several baptisms of children born to a George and Anna Elizabeth Bloch in Philadelphia in the the 1750's. Also to a Johannes Bloch and his wife Maria Magdalena.
If the family that arrived on the ship Patience is indeed the same on that is listed in the Hirschland church records, I suspect that the George and Johan Bloch listed as godparents in the 1770's were not the same ones. They couldn't have been if they were already in the colonies. And everything else matches up.I hope this all makes sense.
That's all for now. You can e-mail me directly at lnissley at fast.net. Look forward to hearing from you.
