You posted quite a while ago, but I have information which could help you to understand the Blitch family history. I am probably NOT related to you (though it is possible since one of my relatives married a Blitch) but I have lived for several years in Bulloch county Georgia. Historically, my home site (not the orginal home, just the place) was known as "the Blitch Place". My grandmother's niece (the one who married a Blitch), lived here until the 1950s. If I yelled very loud I could be heard in Bryan county from here, and Effingham county is only a couple of miles away. Actually, the county line has been recalcualted a couple of times, which could cause some confusion (I have actually been sent tax bills from Bryan county a few times!!!). The little community of Blitchton in Bryan county, named for the Blitch family, is about 6 or 7 miles away from my home and is very near the Ogeechee River which is the county line between Bryan and Effingham, and maybe 5 or so miles from the Bulloch county line. Another community called Blitch is in NE Bulloch county,a way from here, maybe 20 or 25 miles, but it is also near the Ogeechee River and the area settled early by those crossing over from Effingham county in the 1770s. Later some of my relatives from that area migrated down what is called the Old River Road (follows the Ogeechee River), to the Blitchton area. Possibly some of yours did too.
I hope this helps
