I have in front of me the will of Thomas Blitch, Sr. I live right here in Effingham County, Ga. I am using as my reference the publication so named as THE RECORDS OF EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GEORGIA. This publications is well known and was copyrighted in 1976 by the Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, Jr.: Southern Historical Press, Inc. the Rev. Silas Emmett Lucas, Jr., P.O. Box 738, Easley, South Carolina 29641-0738. This book is diveded into two parts:
1. Annals of Georgia, Vol. II
2. Effingham County Legal Records from the Georgia Genealogical Magazine.

The Annals of Georgia was abstracted and compiled by Caroline Price Wilson.

I have found this to be a reliable reference and found every ref. contained in this book to be available in the Probate court, Springfield Courthouse, as recorded. I may well have filed here at home the original of this will. This subject has come up before, so am familiar with the subject.

On page 178 of the Effingham County legal Records we find the Will of Thomas Benjamin Blitch, Sr. Dated Dec. 13, 1858. This will is referenced as being found in the will book on page 196. I have scanned and sent this copy to others in the past and willing to do so again, if necessary. Here I am going to quote a few lines from this will.

"Give to my wife, ANN BLITCH during 10 years of widowhood, or so long as she shall stay on the place (but if she shall leave the place then the lands to bee all sold) 159 acres of land containing the plantation and improvements, the other 200 acres of land to ly unmolested, and after ten years expire, then all the lands to be sold and equal divison be made between all my children.......except for one feather bed, to my daughter ELIZABETH, two pillows to go with the bed. balance of property to be sold and equal divisions be made between all my children, to wit; HENRY JAMES BLITCH, THOMAS LUKE BLITCH, ELIZABETH BLITCH, ELENOR JANE BLITCH, GEORGIA ANN BLITCH, WILLIS STEPHEN BLITCH, WILLIAM MILTON BLITCH, SUSANNAH TABITHA BLITCH, CANARA ANGELICA BLITCH. Appoint son, Henry James Blitch and Thomas Luke Blitch, Executors. Wit: James E. Wilson, A. Wilson, David Wilson.

The index of this book clearly lists under the Blitch surname (index page 188) the name BLITCH, CANARA ANGELICA, p. 178. This is the only reference to her in this book. The name Emma is not found in this index!

I first noticed this reference to Canara, myself, in some old research which had been done quite some years ago. Also wondering about all of this I looked this up, and to my surprize there she was!!

I will check my database and see if I found or made any futher notes on this subject.
