Descendants of Asher Bliss Generation No. 1 1. REV. ASHER2 BLISS (SIMEON1) was born 20 Feb 1801 in West Fairlee, Vermont, and died 24 Mar 1881. He married CASSANDRA HOOPER, daughter of ISAAC HOOPER and SARAH WOOD. She was born 14 Feb 1802 in New Braintree, Massachusetts, and died 21 Apr 1879 in South Valley, New York. Notes for CASSANDRA HOOPER: She was educated at Ipwich and Andover, Massachusetts. She and Rev. Asher Bliss went as missionaries to the Seneca Indians at the Reservation at Catteraugus, New York, remaining there till 1851, then re-moving to Corydon, Pennsylvania, where they continued the work. Children of ASHER BLISS and CASSANDRA HOOPER are: i. ASHER3 BLISS, b. 15 Oct 1834. ii. SAMUEL MUSON BLISS, b. 30 Jan 1837. iii. PETER CORNELIUS BLISS, b. 28 Dec 1838; d. 01 Feb 1885, New York. Notes for PETER CORNELIUS BLISS: Peter studied at Yale University; was private secetary to James W. Webb, U.S. minister to Brazil; afterward Indian Commissioner of Buenos Ayres; consul to Mexico in 1870, Secretary of Legation later. iv. LYDIA ANN BLISS, b. 20 Nov 1840; d. 24 Feb 1841. v.
