Lynn, thank you for replying. My Johannes Blickensderfer arrived at Philadelphia with his brother Ulrich on the ship St Andrew from Rotterdam on Sept 9, 1749. I am told that his brother Ulrich died in Bedford Co. PA. Another brother Christian lived at Lititz, Lancaster Co. PA. The family were Swiss Mennonites who lived for a time in Germany.

Johannes lived in Botetourt Co., Fincastle Co. and Montgomery Co., all in Virginia, from the late 1760s. I have no info on where he resided in PA. I have read, but have no documentation, that he was in Halifax Co. VA in the early 1760s. So there is a 10-20 year gap that he is unaccounted for. It would be great if you could tell us the dates for your ancestor.

Johannes/John had a son John. The name metamorphosed in VA into variations on Plickenstalver, or simply Plick.

Did your ancestor live in Lancaster county the rest of his life? When did he arrive?

Mary Erwin
