Jane-I'm so glad you went to the cemetery. It means so much more once you know who you're looking at. You asked about Bedford Claude and John. They are brothers to each other and grandchildren of John and Matilda Coats Blessing. Pauline, d/o John and Matilda, listed several children with her (John,Matilda,Bedford,Mary C,WilliamJ,Henry, and James. These children are who I'm working on now. John is my husband's gr grandfather(1852-1931). Matilda married Wm Lusk, stayed around Grundy Co, and died ? Bedford Claude(1854-approx 1907) had a large family, lived in Grundy, and was killed after an altercation with a man traveling thru town. Bedford's two sons bullied the man by trying to steal a bag of eggs from him, thinking he had valuables. He slapped one of them, and they ran home to get "Daddy". When he returned, Jim Hunter killed him. The court said he was provoked. I can find no death certificate or place of burial. I had a tiny bit of luck on his downline. Mary C and Wm(no info) Henry Warren went to Chattanooga, large family, and died 1938. James Samuel (1856-1944) lived some time in Chicago, lost his wife during childbirth, and returned to Marion Co, Tn. She was a Gillette-kin to the Razor developer. Both Henry and Samuel list their parents as John or John Henry Blessing and Caroline Davis. So what's the connection to Pauline? And what became of her? It's got me stumped. Do you think she may have taken these children in to raise? I believe John Henry and Caroline died young, and Pauline took the family, but I'm alone in this belief. And what became of her older two children listed 10 yrs before? I don't mean to ramble, but it stays on my mind alot. I have death dates for John and Matilda Coats Blessing. You may come up with something different. John died 1842 in Monroe Co, Indiana, and Matilda returned to Bedford and died 1853. Her parents are Wilson Coats and Celia "Katy" Rule. Lordy, Lordy, this is more involved than I intended.
