David Blazer died Sunday noon at his home on 5th street NE, following a stroke of paralysis which he sustained early that morning. He had been in his usual good health, having carried the mail on his rural route Saturday, and was down town that evening. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. M. Shafer in the M. E. Church, Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Stainbrook of the Lutheran church assisted. Interment was made in Grandview Cemetery.
Mr. Blazer was born July 30, 1858, near Carrollton, being a son of Philip and Mary Blazer. He was twice married, his first wife being Sina Shepherd whom he married November 29, 1883. She died September 25, 1891. They had three children; Mrs. Junius Roudebush, of Carrollton; James and Mrs. Ernest Stookesberry, both deceased. He married the second time on March 2, 1898, to Nettie Finefrock of Magnolia. They have three children, all living; Mrs. Arthur Lawrence, Verna and Catherine, all of Carrollton. Besides the widow and the above-named children he is survived by five grandchildren; three brothers, Howard Blazer of Minerva, Morris Blazer and John Blazer, near Carrollton. Mr. Blazer had been a mail carrier for 21 years and would have retired on a pension in December. He always took an active part in county fair work, and on Saturday had taken a week's leave of absence to assist the fair board this week.
