I have direct descent from the Blayney family of Castleblayney, Ireland, descended from Evan Blayney of Tregynon, Powys, lived about 1400. He claimed descent from Cadwallon ap Cadfan, King of Gwynedd,d634, and Brochfael Ysgythrog, King of Powys, c.550. These are the earliest records I know of the name. The Welsh branch lived at Gregynog Hall, Powys. The 3rd son,Edward, of David Lloyd Blayney, gt.gt.grandson of Evan Blayney, went to Ireland in about 1610, and became a Baron in 1621. My descent is from Henry, 2nd Lord and Cadwallader, 9th Lord.
