I grew up in Riverside, IL on Bloomingband Road. My house was 2 door down from Mrs. Blainey. I think her first name was Marian. That would mean she doesn't fit your description of Vashti Blainey.
Needless to say, Marion Blainey passed away was I was about 14. At the time I had found a box of old letters written to her from a boyfriend from WWI. (THey were thrown in the garbage.) There were also many newspaper clippings.
My point is I am in search of Marian Ward Blainey's family to return the letters and newpaper clippings. And I don't think this is the Vashti Blainey you are looking for.
