William Stewart Blaylock/Blalock and Sary/Sally Hargis
"Separated January 8, 1828 leaving 6 small children"
Married January 22, 1817 -that is 11 yrs.
1 kid @ every 2 yrs., pregnant 9 mos. of that 2 yrs. leaving 1 1. 1/2 yrs. during which time she was probablynursing.
(No bottles and baby food in those days - and it doesn't look like William could afford a wet nurse). (Note, she was on 1830 census with William).
Sary died at @ 41 yrs. old, probably from being bred and worked to death and I sincerely doubt she had any time to be "running off" - especially in those days when women had NO rights, even to their own children. She was probably sickly, and going somewhere for help in delivering her babies or with health issues. I can only find 3 children. Where are the other 3?Who are they?
Where is evidence for 2nd marriage of William?
This whole story stinks. William's divorce was initially denied, and when he tried again Sary was dead.Where is she buried? Why are her descendants allowing this unverified and insulting story to stand?Just because 13 ignorant men vouched for William's character does not prove anything. They have no idea how he treated his wife in private - or possibly didn't care. It is very rare that any woman leaves her children. Their last child was born in 1839,and it appears Sary died giving birth.
There is no evidence Sary was Indian. It appears she was not. The Person County Indians are not Cherokee. There is no evidence she ever used the names Staylong or Rutledge. There is no evidence of a 2nd marriage for either of them.
If you do have evidence of anything, please let me know.
Sary's parents areWilliam Hargis and Elizabeth Jay.
