There is a connection between the White Waltham Blays and Cripplegate London. For instance Richard Blay and Sarah baptised Richard Daniel Blay at St Giles Cripplegate on 31/12/1848 Richards father was Richard Blay born 1786 and married Anne Weston at Bray 12/11/1808. His father was Thomas Blay born 1761 and maried to Ann Ayres ion 1784 at Bray. His father was Richard Blay born 1725 at Hurley and married Martha Cordery at Bisham 8/5/1753. Finally his father was Walter Blay married to Elizabeth.

There is also another London connection. John Blay born 1743 and married to Winifred Ravening in 1767 at Bray had a son also called John born 1770. He was apprenticed to Samuel Joseph Threadkeld a fishmonger of Peddlars Ave, Westminster, for 8 years in 1784 he obtained freedom by servitude in 1792 and in the same year married Mary Carter at Stepney They had at least 3 sons William born Bermondsey c 1796, a fismonger, Thomas Blay, born c1801 a brushmaker and John Blay a taylor in Bermondsey.

London was a strong draw for the White Waltham and Bray Blays. Several got married in London and eventually returned to their home village. I strongley susupect that there are more family ties betweewn London and Berkshire.
