Re: Woshipfull company of fishmongers.

My Blays come from the village of Bray in Berkshire, near Maidenhead.
The almshouses in the village, known as Jesus Hospital, was established in 1627 by the Woshipful Company of Fishmongers.
(I have pix I can send if you contact me off-line). I have not yet discovered why this was.
However,Ii have been informed that two families of Blays around Grimsby originated with two Bray lads apprenticed to the fishing fleets in the area.
