I suggest that looking at the internet Blanton genealogies for 1600's and 1700's is a waste of time. I have looked at all I could find on the web. They are all pretty much the same in this time frame. They all contain information that contradicts the original documents available in Spotsylvania and to a limited extent in Caroline.
I doubt if anyone has any documentation [A published genealogy is not documentation]about the parents of Thomas I.If he/she does, please post it.
Of Thomas I's male offspring, namely Thomas,Jr.,William, Richard & John (from his will), we have wills for the latter two, although there is some question about John's.
At that point we have a lot of Johns, Thomases, Richards, Williams and, eventually, Jameses and few, if any wills. The connections to Amelia, Prince Edward, Nottoway, Cumberland, Mecklenburg, Monroe and Lee counties, VA and Rutherford County, NC seem to be based on speculation from an earlier time in which there were few transcripts of court records.
Look in Generation 3 of the genealogy you mentioned:There is a Nancy Blanton, daughter of Thomas I, who was first married at age 105+. There was no Nancy in his will.
There are similar implausible items elsewhere in these genealogies that no one ever seems to correct.
If anyone has a Blanton genealogy for this period that has been carefully researched, please post ordering information to the Forum.
