Based on Thelma's later post, it is pretty certain that John was Martha's husband:

However, the question of his paternity is still open. It appears that neither of the two Blantons in Stewart was his father. He was indicated as born 1800-1810 in the 1830 and 1840 censuses. In the 1820 census, Richard shows only one male 16-18 (also shown in the 16-26 cohort), whom we know to be Henry. He left a will and did not mention any of Martha's children.
John shows no children born 1800-1810 in the 1810 Prince Edward VA census and 2 males in the 1820 Stewart census. He sold his land in Stewart and moved to Madison AL by 1830. The 2 males appear in the 1810-1820 cohort. Because the censuses are prone to error, we cannot eliminate him definitively. However, families tended to move together in these migrations.
We have traced a descendant of John and Martha to GA. Another researcher is going to ask him to take a DNA test. Hopefully, he will do it. If you can find another person to test, we will pay for it. It has to be a male descended from John through an all-male line. Absent an NPE, he would bear the Blanton surname.
