Abner and Joshua Blanton, others, Missouri Civil War
I recently found the following information at the Mo. govt. archives site.Abner Blanton enlisted in Frazer`s Franklin Co. Prov. 107 Regiment of the Emergency Missouri Militia on Oct. 1, 1864. Abner would have been about 69 years old! Service record for Joshua is found in the record of his son John A. Blanton.Comments on John A`s. service card states he was in CSA Col. Vaughn`s Reg.and that he took the place in the rank of his sick father. This was in 1861 when Joshua was about 60 years old!also in the Provost Marshal Papers 1861-1866 at this same site are records of loyalty oaths for William W., Martin V. and the other John A., sons of Absalom Blanton. Vincent, son of Joshua, was arrested for disloyalty, placed under a $500 bond and took a loyalty oath the same day.Other Blanton`s, some part of these families, some from other lines ,are also at this site
