Ann,
Thanks.I have the census information and have Freeman's name as James Freeman in my database.I just need to update my web site.:-)
Unfortunately, there is no source which links Isaac to John, except the writings of early family members. They all believed that John was Isaac's father, but no one has ever found a document to prove this. They could have been brothers instead.
We can place this John Blanton in Walker Co., AL with the rest of the family. He then went to AR, and arrived in TX in 1836.We know this is the same John Blanton because three of his sons were involved in his probate in Red River County, TX in 1840 and his land certificate was mentioned in his probate.
Many of us have searched for years to find a document which links John and Isaac, and others before us have searched.Irene Blanton Smith did extensive research on this line and found no document linking the two.We keep hoping that some day we will find something. One problem lies in the fact that most of the courthouses in the areas where this family lived in AL and TN were burned.
