From the work I have done since these earlier postings, it appears that the Richard Blanton who married Elizabeth F. Davidson was the son of James and the grandson of Richard, Sr.
By 1820, the only member of this family in PE was James, who was married to Elizabeth Williamson in 1802. The censuses inidcate that he died 1830-1840. Tax lists could pinpoint the date.
In the 1850 census, Elizabeth F. Blanton is living in the house adjacent to Elizabeth (age 63), presumably James' widow.
This is what seems to have happened to the sons of Richard,Sr:
Joshua-Never married. An unmarried Joshua shows up on the 1830 Pike, OH census.
Richard-Went to Stewart, TN about 1806.
John-Went to Stewart, TN about 1818.
William-Unknown. However, a William Blanton appears on the 1830 Nottoway census, but without age information.
James-Stays in PE, but dies 1830-40.
