Pat,
I certainly agree!I have had the same thing happen to me.I shared my Blanton information several years ago with another researcher, who at the time didn't even have a website; and now my information has been put on that person's website without my permission and without citing me as the source. It has also been submitted to the LDS and is now on one of their Pedigree Resource CD's.This information even included my personal notes! We all know that information such as names, places, and dates is not copyrighted material, but the notes that one adds IS copyrighted material. There is a very good article on genealogy materials and copyright by Myra Vanderpool Gormley at the following link:
http://www.ancestry.com/columns/myra/Shaking_Family_Tree10-29-98.htmhttp://www.ancestry.com/columns/myra/Shaking_Family_Tree10-29-98.htm.I urge everyone to read it.
I am very reluctant to share any of my information because of what has happened to me.I will share a few names and dates, but I will never again share everything that I have with someone.Unfortunately, people who do this type of thing are hurting all of us because sharing is so much a part of genealogy.
