Jesse Blan, Monroe Co. Virginia
Posted by: Charles Bland Date: March 10, 1999 at 09:31:31

Who can help me with this fellow? In a Revolutionary service pension, a third party attest for Jesse "that he was born . .. in the year 1756-that his age is recorded in the bible of his family which was in posession of his brother when he left Prince William." The brother is presumably, though not definitely, John Bland (C1742-1807) whose wife Rachel and children apppeared in Washington County Kentucky C1785-1800. In his will made out in Monroe County Virginia on April 16, 1835, John made no mention of a family but left his estate to an associate names Hakes. I believe Jesse was the son of John Bland (C1688-1763) of Prince William County Virginia and a brother of John, (1742-1807). I'm more certain of this than I am of winning the New York Lottery, but less certain than if I were chiseling it in stone on Mount Rushmore. I would be grateful for any advice. I'm especially intrigued that Jesse lived out his life (evidently) in Monroe County.
