Hi Anne:

Hi Anne:

In your message you say that you have Cousin Charles L. Bland's book but do you have a copy of the Bland Family Newsletter which he published in June 1991?

In the newsletter which is devoted primarily to the Bland Family of King and Queen Co., VA, Charles indicates that Ira R. Bland born around 1844 is the son of Ira Bland born around 1808 who married Ann P. perhaps Pulley. Ira R. had one brother and one sister.

The parents of Ira Bland (c1808-?) are William Bland (c1768-1833) and Susan Corr (1774-1813) who were married in King and Queen Co., VA on February 20,1792.

My interest in the Bland Family of King and Queen Co., Va stems from the fact that the DNA Projects shows that the following Bland Families are most definitely related to each other and have a common ancestor.

Bland Family of Caroline Co., VA (my Bland Family)
Bland Family of Isle of Wight Co., VA
Bland Family of Pendleton Co., VA/WV
Bland Family of Rockingham Co., VA.

As a matter of interest I have a cousin who is now in her late 80s and whose father was born over 143 yeas ago in March of 1865. This cousin recently told me that her father said that of Bland Family descended from a Captain Robert Bland who was at one time a Pirate. My father who has been dead for some 43 years always said that our Bland Family came from King and Queen Co., VA. Well the DNA project confirms this statement.
