There were three sons of Elisha and Agnes Bland of Washington Co., GA - Simeon and Micajah (twins b. 1798) and John (b. 1805). My male 1st cousin who would be the ggg grandson of John had his DNA tested. A descendent of one of the other brothers also had his DNA tested. These two matched but they do not match with descendents of Robert Bland of SC. See the blandheritage.org site to see results of tests. Click on "DNA" and then click on "Test." Either Elisha is not the son of Robert or Elisha is not the father of Simeon, Micajah, and John. I tend to believe the latter. Elisha is very well documented on paper as the son of Elisha. I have been working on my family history since 1970 and most Bland researchers have always believed Agnes may have been married before she married Elisha - possibly to a Freeman or a Frederick. The children may have belonged to this supposed 1st husband and Elisha raised them as his own. In any event they are still Blands. I have been attempting to search out every Agnes b. @1770 in NC who was in the early settled counties in GA in the late 1700s, early 1800s. I have narrowed my search down to one Agnes that I can't find what happened to her - an Agnes Culpepper b.@ 1772 Anson Co., N.C. is mentioned as being "of Washington Co., GA" in her father's will of 1808. Agnes Culpepper also drew land in the lottery in 1807 in Washington Co., GA. I have been unable to find what happened to her. I have seen Agnes listed as Agnes Conyers on many genealogies but never any proof of that name. Would appreciate any clues to figure all this out.
