JOHN (CHILDRESS) and MARGERY of IN (Could be typo, one report states IN and another states TN)to JESSE BLAND of AMHERST COUNTY, VIRGINIA, land bequeathed to JOHN (CHILDRESS) by WILL of THOMAS POWELL on March 18, 1783.
According to "JOHN CHILDRESS (1759-1849), md. ELIZABETH LINDSEY" by Mark & Gary Childress. Rights reserved (c)2005. Series 1 No. 1 - SEE: "CHILDRESS-RESEARCH-LIST-ARCHIVES, March 22, 2005, posted by JOSEPH CHILDRESS (tndrijay@comcast.net) - AS FOLLOWS -
JOHN CHILDRESS married MARJORY POWELL, daughter of Rev. Soldier, THOMAS POWELL of AMHERST CO, VA. He would have been born overseas circa 1740, resided inh mid to late 18th Century Albemarle and Amherst counties, Virginia (1745-1786), and died inj Knox Co, Tennessee after 1804, when he signed a DEED DISPOSING OF AMHERST COUNTY PROPERTY INHERITED FROM HIS FATHER-IN-LAW." - NOTE - The above property is the above which was purported to be by JESSE BLAND.
Would anyone know who this JESSE BLAND was and do you have knowledge of a land purchase by JESSE from a JOHN CHILDRESS who was purported to have lived in Amherst County, VA and of whom was married to a MARJORY POWELL?
I've read a few of the messages on this forum and noticed that several or more BLANDS lived in INDIANA. Anything you might wish to share regarding the BLANDS either in VA, TN, IN would be fantastic. Feel free to correct, comment and or email me!
