Chris Many thanks for the additional information. I , too had made the connection between Dulwich and Mary Wilkinson who claims to have a cousin COOK or HOWARD, according to the census return. Silver street in Sunderland was the poor part of the town. Please let me know what number Silver Street. I would be keen to know where John Bland was living at the time of the marriage. The Ragged school for Boys was located there at the time and Melvyn Longstaff is trying to get more information. Re Jonathan Wilkinson, I was also puzzled and tricked by the claim that his wife JANE WANLESS was a widow and searched no further for him. However my curiosity got the better of me and lo and behold 1881 he was living in Church Street Seaham aged 72 ( born Washington) with his daughter Ellen Wilkinson. Perhaps W also means separated as well as widowed or widower. Mary eventually moved to Fulwell ( 1901 census) any idea where. Re LIZZIE JANE , she does appear in the 1881 census under Elizabeth Wilkinson, living with grandmother Jane Wilkinson ( Wanless) and the rest of the family. I am still keen to establish the ISLINGTON ,DULWICH link and find out who George Wilkinson was. Seems like he was from down there and not from the North East. Is your statement that Mary was in London until 1875 based upon solid evidence or speculation. Incidentally Melvyn Longstaff is still quite keen to discuss the Bland family with you and has organised a special mobile phone number for the occasion should you wish to do so. I can post this to you if you wish via the next message as the number will be abandoned afterwards to prevent unwanted intrusive calls. Derek Notify Administrator about this message?
