Hi, Georgia. I don't have anything on John A. Bland but it seems the whole Bland family moved around together. I have a John Bland who was born in Perry County, Ill in 1832 rather than 1825. His father was John Daniel Bland, one of the sons of John Jacky Bland. According to the "Among Cousins" Newsletter Vol 15-17, he appeared in the 1850 census as "gone to California". The newsletter says, "family legend has it that John was killed by Indians". There is no mention of a wife. It is interesting though, because my GGGG Grandmother Harriett Bland Council b. 1830 in Illinois and later moving to Cedar County, Missouri, told my family members that her "favorite brother" (name unspecified) had gone to California and never been heard from again. Let me know if you come up with anything. We may have a conncetion here. I will keep looking and let you know.
