Bland Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Cousins Carolyn and Alan, Good to hear from you. The following year after we met, the Reunion was in Illinois and my son and I followed Doris and Elmer home to have a feast with them and see Dreamwood, which I fell in love with and if I could have lifted it up and transported it to a site on the James or Potomac Rivers in Virginia or my birthplace in NC, would have done so. While I'm thinking of it, Doris and Elmer sent me a Christmas card and a letter and I mislaid their new address. Could you please let me know what it is. I'm doing this from memory and I sent out over 100 cards to the Bland cousins, but I may have held theirs because of the address problem. Anyway, I changed jobs at the university and moved to a new office on December 18, and haven't had access to e-mail since then. My E-mail is cbland@acsu.buffalo.edu and it should be up by the end of the week. The bad weather in Buffalo has been very disruptive of work patterns, including my own and the teckies who need to set up my computer. I've set up this much myself, but need them for e-mail and a few other sources. Its a long story. Yes I do still publish the book. I'd planned to take the MS for printing and binding on the 12th, but because of the snows and my delay in setting up communication, I'm extending it to the 25th. If you'd like to order a copy, send me a check for $79.95. I am also publishing the Newsletter still and have 14 volumes (about 1400 pages) completed since 1982. I'm working on Volume 15, and will summarize all that we know about a North Carolina Family that I believe your ancestors descend from. I know the story about your line and there is no "smoking gun" evidence, but circumstantially, it looks pretty strong. I recommend the book as background for anyone interested in Bland genealogy. The composite price of the back orders of the Newsletters is $278. plus $20 for the Index of Volumes 6-10 (which is 85 pages in itself) but for the sake of your economy, I think you might start with the book plus Volume 14 and 15 and then go from there. Volume 14 is about the major Bland family in Eastern North Carolina, where I think, but can't prove that your line comes from. My essay in Volume 15 will proceed from Volume 14. If you want to order any of this, The two referenced Newsletters are $18. each and the book is $79.95, which includes postage and handling. Send payment to Charles L. Bland Box 1002, Amherst New York, 14226. If you'd like to talk, my phone number (nights are better) is 716-832-5263. Take care, and give my love to Doris and Elmer when you talk to them. The next reunion will be August 6-8, 1999 at Lancaster Kentucky, near Lexington. Sincerely Cousin Charles
