Betty,
I am researching this Bland Family. I haven't been able to determine much. This is what I "believe" so far.
Eli Bland b: approx. 1806 married: Serrah (?). Eli was the 4th son of Osborne Bland Jr. & Patsey Donohoo.
Their children were: Warren b:1833 IN - Jane Ann b: July 1835 IN d: Oct 5 1904 Calhoun Cty. - Lucinda b: 1837 IN - Seriah b: 1839 IN. I have an 1850 census record for them. They were in Shelby County, Il moving from I believe around Terre Haute Indiana.
Warren married Elizabeth Martin - Calhoun County. I believe that
Elizabeth Martin is Elizabeth (Betty) Barnard. She was married prior to Warren to a gentleman with the last name Martin. I found a marriage record for an Elizabeth Barnard and a Hudson Martin in Calhoun Cty 1855.
Jane Ann married Jasper David Likes.
This is all I have. I am trying to find out who the children of Warren were. I believe he had a son named Sylvester.
I have a 1920 census record that shows he was living with Sylvester (age 38 head of house) & Ida (age 28 wife) and Warren (age 87 father). At this time they were in Green County Carlin Precient where Jane died. I believe he had at least another son named John E. Bland. I am very interested in John. I believe he is my great grandfather.
I have a marriage record for John E. Bland m. Julia Peters 02/06/1896 in Calhoun Cty Il. On the record it shows that John's parents were Warren Bland & Elizabeth Barnard. I believe that John & Julia had at least 2 children.
Ora Bland born approx: 1897 Cliffdale, Calhoun Cty, IL. (I believe this is my grandmother)
Ida Bland born approx: 1899
I have a 1900 census record showing John, Julia, Ora & Ida.
Ora Bland married Samuel Lockhart of Walkerville, Il. They had at least 7 children. My mother Ada Almeda was one born August 1, 1928. I know the names of only 3 others, Irene Eunice, Juanita & Eileen.
Can you help me add to or correct the infomation I have on this family. Warm Regards, Debbie Summers
