Your Joseph Blanchet was the son of Mary Blancett, possibly Mary Davis Blancett. She was born January 20, 1830 in Jackson Co., AL to LeRoy Blancett and his wife Sarah Parks. According to a family history written by Wm. Calvin Blancett in 1940 when he was quite elderly, Mary was married "under the old law" to Perry Carlwell/Caldwell. He deserted her and she never married. She is found in the Bibb Co., AL 1850 census with her parents and in 1860, living with Elizabeth Husley & her family, as well as her sister Jane and Jane's child. The connection to Elizabeth Hulsey is uncertain but she is related in some way. Mary died December 8, 1900 and was buried in the Cedar Hills Cemetery in Scottsboro, AL. My records indicate Joseph was born Nov, 1852. I am descended from Mary's younger brother William Martin Blancett and would be interested in further information about your family.
