Thanks - I'm assuming that Alice - wife of Mark - ( my grandmother ) is Mary's elder sister and that Thomas and Mary are my great grandparents. I've had glimpses of Thomas .. and then his brother Robert but it gets a little confusing.

Their grandfather Peter Lisson Blanchard was a member of the Devon Militia for many years ( and was a Chelsea Pensioner ) and ended up as the licencee of the Tavern at the barracks.

Life seems to have centered around the Militia and the Barracks. A Peter Lisson Blanchard was killed in the Battle of Loos in 1915 - in the Devonshire Regiments that contained many from the Militia.

My father's name is Peter Lisson James Westcott - the James bit is a Westcott family name ( Mark's father ) so the Lisson connection is finally explained. Any further unravelling of the 'Militia' Blanchards is most welcome.
