I am looking for this gggrandfather of mine. The family story is that he was an American sailor or Merchant Marine. He fathered a chid with Betsey Beard in Wales April 1872. Betsey died giving birth to Herbert Charles Beard. When he found out that there was a child he tried to get Bert in Somerset England, but did not succeed. US Citizen probably living on the East Coast, possibly Kentucky. (Unknown Name) Blanchard was born in Kentucky. Birth place is listed on the 1910 Census of Herbert C. Beard Sr. He was never married.
