Walter M Blanchard (1804/5 - bef 1880), brother of my 3ggrandfather Asaph, was born in Hamilton, Madison, NY and lived in Andover and Pierpont, Ashatabula, OH. He first married Roxana Belden and had a son Oliver abt. 1829/30. He married Sophronia Putney in 1859 and had at least three more sons: John, Wellington Minor, and Washington M. Blanchard. I'd particularly like to find direct line male descendants to participate in a Blanchard DNA Project <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~blanch-l/bldna.html>.
So far both participants who are descended from our common ancestor, John Blanchard, Sr. (1751 - 1810+), are descendants of Asaph's son, Alma M., my 2ggrandfather. So far it looks as if we're not related to any of better-known Blanchard lines of New England, but it would be nice to have a bigger sample.
I have a lot of information on Walter M. Blanchard that I would be happy to share. I am hoping to visit Ashtabula County sometime in May and would be glad to meet any descendants.
