There are two possibilities for you. If they came from Quebec they are probably descended from Pierre Blanchet who came to Quebec in 1665. Some of the Blanchets that migrated to the US changed the name to Blanchard. Another Blanchard family started in Acadia (now Nova Scotia) and some of them settled in the US. Your Blanchard may be from either of these families. If you are sure they came from Quebec then most likely they descended from Pierre Blanchet. His descendent are now know as Blanchet, Blanchette, Blanchard or Laforest.
