On a 1898 Victoria, B.C Voters List, I found:
Blanchard, Monson G., 1 Jackson St., Veterinary surgeon
Blanchard, Samuel H., 145 View St., Plasterer
I am not sure who Samuel is.
I have "As a veterinarian, Monson first worked in Lewiston, Maine, in 1885, but after a few months, he went to Victoria, B.C. where he
had the position of Government Inspector of the Animals imported into British Columbia until his leaving for South Africa ca.1896."
Monty never married, more info posted on 'The Canadian Virtual War Memorial' site regarding him. In relation to Monty, there is a nephew,
Benjamin H. C. Blanchard, who the family lost contact with shortly after WWI. Ben had been badly injured during the War.
I am a descendent of 'Joseph' and Ann, who arrived in Boston in 1637 from England, my branch coming to Nova Scotia about 1785. I
do not have anything 'solid' before 1637. I have not came across the De la Giroday surname in research.
