Some additional information on Peter Blanchard. He was born in England on April 24, 1813 and married Artimitia Blodgett, who I believe originally lived in western NY state. Her ancestry goes back to the Blodgett/Kibbee family of Connecticut and from there she had connections to John Alden and Pricilla Mullins, Mayflower Pilgrims. The Avery family has in their possession a letter written to Peter from his parents, William and Selina Blanchard of Wigtoft, Lincolnshire, England. Some of my Blanchards remained in St.Joseph Co., Michigan, others settled in Petoskey, Michigan. My great uncle Frank Blanchard homesteaded a farm in Petoskey. The land has been sold since but is on Blanchard road in Petoskey.
