don't know if this helps. The Blanchfield family (all from Kilkenny Ireland) also referred to themselves as "blanch" ie. my grandmother Rosanna has a birth cert. blanchfield and baptism cert. Blanch. I had an uncle Dick Blanch and great grandfather Richard Blanch(field) and the bLANCH(FIELD) ARE FULL OF RICHARDS. iF YOU ARE A BLANCHFIELD , KILKENNY IS WHERE TO LOOK FOR IRISH ORIGINS. GOOD LUCK
