Linda: I did find two additional items. Two of the deeds in Johnson (current northern Wake)Co. bordering Blalock's Springs were signed by 1. John Rowland and 2. James Rowland.
In 1759 after John Blalock sold his major holding, but did witness additional land sales, and after 1767, his name was mentioned often, but his brother the elder Millington signed for him. This is when I believe John andSarah left the area.Lewis doesn't show up anymore either, but Millington does until the late 1700's, as well as Buckner, Isham, Charles, Willis, Matthew etc. Then theymove as well. One later John Blalock stayed in the area.
I am very familiar with the Cash family. They are still here in this area!Three of the Person Co. Millington Blalock children married three of John Cash's children. They were on Little Creek, Camp Creek, and Cub Creek. Deeds in the area often referred to the smaller streams and rills leading to these creeks - one of them being "Peter's branch" which is mentioned often. I never figured out if it was named for Peter Cash or Peter Cozart. The Cozarts were in the very same area but a few miles east of there. The Cash families came from VA to the area just east of the aforementioned creeks on Picture Creek in south west Granville Co. about 2-4 miles from Camp and Little Creeks. There were two Peter Cashes in the area in the late 1700's so these were later Peter Cashes than the one who married Charity Bush. The Granville County Cash family descend from William Cash of Stafford Co. whose father Joseph moved to Granville Co. William was married to Anna Moses. Joseph his father was married twice, to Susannah Macon or Mason, and Elizabeth Bryan. There was a Bryant Cash, a Moses Cash, and two more Peter Cashes before 1800.
I, personally, have no doubt that the John and Sarah Blalock who were granted land in Wake Co., NC first in 1743 and then in 1752 and by the late 1760's had sold most of this land, is the same John who ended up in Newberry, S.C.I have not been to S.C. to check the records, but if they were somewhere else for 15 or so years before going to S.C., then they possibly went back home to VA for a few years to see their daughters? or to marry off their daughters, and then went to S.C.It is possible that Sarah was deceased prior to his moving to S.C.
The John in Johnson Co. was certainly productive as he had a large mill, lots of land, and he and his sons built a road which stretched about 15 miles - quite a feat in that day.It was called Blalock's path, and later it was called Blalock's improvements as apparently Isham Blalock did more work on it in the late 1700's prior to also moving. As previously mentioned, the Abbotts, the Sims, the Oglesby, Osborn Jeffreys and many other families were associated with the Blalock family as well as with others. The Bennett family came to southern Granville Co. in the mid to late 1700's from New Kent co., VA.
